"Youth On The Move"

By: T. Coreentje Phipps-Benjamin, Press Release

February 3rd, 2016 -- Kylah Brantley, a sixteen year old basketball player of Nevisian descent, is heading to Russia on an overseas exchange trip.

As the recipient of the prestigious “Sports United: Basketball Ambassadors of Today and Tomorrow” full scholarship from the New York based Russian-American Foundation (RAF), Ms. Brantley will join twelve other students and their coaches for the April 22 to May 1, 2016 trip.

The full scholarship bestowed on Ms. Brantley will give her the exceptional opportunity to engage her peers in Russia through the common bond of basketball. The tour will also allow Ms. Brantley to learn more about the Russian culture and share stories of her heritage with her foreign peers. She will garner a wealth of experience not only in basketball but also in advancing her skills by becoming an open-minded and successful citizen in today’s global world.

The highly sought after scholarship opens up a door of opportunity for the young, blossoming basketball player and she is incredibly pleased for this rare opportunity.

Ms. Brantley has a large contingent of supporters rooting for her, particularly her grandmother Cynthia Williams (Vicky) in Nevis.  Her family is incredibly appreciative of the growth and exposure this opportunity provides and is certain Ms. Brantley will make her family, school, and community proud.

Ms. Brantley currently attends the Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics High School where she maintains an above 90% average.

Kylah Brantley is definitely a “Youth on The Move.”
