    Background

The Desmond Eli Ward Competition was held previously in 2011 in the form of a debating competition amongst the Primary Schools in St. Kitts. The competition has been restructured into a Public Speaking Competition.

Mr. Desmond Eli Ward was one of the founding fathers of the SKNYPA. As an avid debater and lover of young people, he advocated for the involvement and development of young people in every phase of nation building to ensure the development and sustainability of the nation.
