BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CORPORATE citizen St. Kitts Marine Works (SKMW) - through its owner Regiwell Francis - is lending assistance to proactive crime fighting through the donation of a number of electronic devices to Operation Future.

Operation Future is an organization which was established 11 years ago by Officer Lauston Percival as a means of bridging the gap between the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and sensitizing the public about social ills. It was also birthed to challenge children, from an early age, to strive to be upstanding members of society and shun involvement in gang and criminal activity.

A brief handing-over ceremony was held on Friday (Feb. 12) at Operation Future’s base in the St. Johnston Community Centre where two HD projectors, two DVD players and one LENOVO laptop were passed on by Francis to Percival.

In explaining his reasons for making the donation, Francis said he realized particular events which promoted community togetherness were missing and he decided to contact Officer Percival to find out what pieces of equipment he is in need of.

He said the Officer informed him that Operation Future’s projector – with which movies were shown at community movie night events – was not functional. He said Percival also told him of the need for a laptop to serve the needs of the programme.

Francis encouraged other individuals and entities to support the initiative noting that it is one thing to speak about crime and the ills of society but a further step needs to be taken; words need to be become actions.

Officer Percival thanked Francis for the equipment and assured him that they would be put to good use.
