Pink Lily client’s urgently needs “O” Negative blood

By: Pink Lily, Press Release

Nevis, Thursday, February 18, 2016 -- Pink Lily Cancer Care has mounted an appeal to help save the life of Patefield Andrew, a cancer patient, admitted in Alexandra Hospital who requires, a rare blood group, “O” negative.

According to Shoya Lawrence, the patient’s caregiver, Andrew the blood group was required since last week Monday. “The blood group he needs is rare,” she said. She added that he requires three units of the rare blood group.

Andrew fondly called “Premier” has served many ferry passengers to and from St.Kitts and Nevis.

Medical University of the Americas(MUA) students have teamed up with Pink Lily to intensify the campaign as they also try to identify whether any of the students might have the rare blood group.

Andrew was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in 2014.  “He is in the last stage of the cancer. As we all know, it is not something that can be reversed. We are trying to make him as comfortable as possible,” Ms Lawrence said.

At the moment he is on Zorax treatment every three months that costs EC1,300.  The Zorax injection requires that he takes a tablet prior to the Zorax jab that costs EC120.

Yesterday(Wednesday February 17)  at 6.30 p.m several MUA students went to the hospital as it is the only time they are available due to their class schedules but the laboratory was not open. They hoped to go today in the morning. The MUA students have notified their counterparts in other medical schools to find out whether anybody has the rare blood group.
