BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are having a very busy week as bandits continue to deprive hard-working citizens and residents of their personal items and cash.

Following the burglary of a Frigate Bay home and robbery of its resident early Tuesday morning (Feb. 16), police are now tasked with investigating three more crimes of similar nature that either occurred during Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning (Feb. 17).

Three of these crimes were committed in St. Kitts and one in Nevis.

The first one, according to a police communiqué, occurred in St. Peter’s, where a male resident of Scenic Street, Lower Monkey Hill reported that someone had damaged a window of his passenger bus and removed an undisclosed sum of money from within.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb.16), the man had secured and parked his vehicle (H 1753) outside his home. However, at approximately 6:45 on the following morning when the man checked his vehicle, he discovered that some unknown person(s) had used a hard object to smash a window on the right side to gain entry and stole an undisclosed amount of coins.

The scene was processed by members of the Crime Scene Unit and investigations are ongoing.

The second larceny occurred at Lover’s Lane in Cayon, where a female resident reported that after securing her home she went to bed at about 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday. But on waking around 6:15 the following morning, she found that someone had entered the house and stole a sum of money and other items from her purse.

This matter is also being investigated.

The third incident of larceny also occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning (Feb. 17) in Challenger’s Village.

Police investigations revealed that two barrels containing various items were shipped to an individual in Challenger’s Village and some unknown person(s) had stolen them.

“Investigations further revealed that both barrels were left outside the home in Challengers around 7.00pm on the night of February 16, and upon checking the following morning they were discovered missing. The yard was not fenced.  There are no suspects and value for the items is unknown,” the communiqué reads.

And on sister isle Nevis, a bandit or bandits had broken into a Stoney Grove residence and stole a music set.

According to the communiqué, a woman had called to the Charlestown Police Station and reported that she is the caretaker of the burglarised home.

“She reported that she last visited the house on February 16 and left everything intact. When she returned to the house on February 17 she noticed that some person(s) had unlocked the lower bolt that is on the outside of a back window, then applied pressure to the glass window to effect entry into the house. The offenders having entered the house ransacked a number of dressing table drawers inside the bedrooms and stole a stereo set with two speakers from the living room,” the communiqué said.

The scene was processed and some items of evidential value were retrieved.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday (Feb.16), a Frigate Bay resident awoke to the presence of two men in his/her home.

The intruders, who were dressed in black clothing with their faces concealed, reportedly stole a television set, three cellular phones, a laptop computer and an undisclosed sum of cash before making good their escape.

Investigations into this incident are also ongoing.
