BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A search operation by prison authorities has resulted in the discovery of a very large quantity of contraband items within the walls of Her Majesty’s Prison.
The search operation, which began some 21 days ago under the leadership of the recently-appointed Superintendent of Prisons, Junie ‘Scrape’ Hodge, has revealed a very porous security system had been in existence at the over populated correctional facility.
Among the items discovered are 125 mobile phones, 160 lighters, over eight pounds of marijuana and a quantity of alcohol.
Most of these items were ingeniously stashed within the concrete walls, decks of playing cards and wooden receptacles.
A number of persons were arrested pending investigation.
