(EMU) St. Kitts – February 23, 2016: Minister of Education, Hon. Shawn K. Richards, has issued an apology to the respective St. Kitts and Nevis Teachers’ Unions as a result of any inconvenience caused by changes in the date for the Easter vacation break for schools.
The vacation, originally planned for April 01-18, was rescheduled to March 24 – April 11.
In his apology Minister Richards expressed his regret as well as that of the Ministry of Education’s administration, at the inconvenience that the change in date may have caused to the teachers’ unions, the faculty and staff at all schools as well as parents and students. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the needs of teachers and assured that appropriate measures are being explored towards the enhancement of communication channels between the Ministry and the St. Kitts and Nevis Teachers’ Unions.
He expressed, “Our priority is to maintain the respect of the teachers who work diligently in our schools for the betterment of our country’s children and the Teachers’ Unions in St. Kitts and Nevis which represents these teachers.”
Minister Richards conveyed the Ministry’s continued support for these institutions.
