BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE collaborations which the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have been having with its sister agencies continue to yield fruit with one of the most-recent resulting in a firearm and ammunition being removed from the streets.

The Police Force issued a press release yesterday (Feb. 23) which informed that the gun was found during a search operation.

“A combined search operation by the Special Services Unit (SSU), the Anti-Drug Unit and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force has resulted in the seizure of a .40mm pistol and a magazine with matching .40mm ammunition.”

The communique informed that the search operation took place in the Ottley’s Village area yesterday at about 6:30 in the evening where a group of young men were stopped and searched.

“A seventeen (17) year old male within the group was discovered to have on his person the illegal firearm and ammunition. He was arrested and interviewed in the presence of his mother. Charges would be forthcoming.”

Yesterday’s find took the number of illegal forearms removed from the Federation’s streets for 2016 to three.
