Sagicor commemorates 175th Anniversary, opens new office in St. Kitts

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NOT many companies have the privilege of boasting close to two centuries of service to or in a particular region. With an impressive 175 years of operation however, Sagicor has that right and privilege and, in commemoration of its anniversary, it opened a newly-refurbished office in St. Kitts earlier this week.

The office is located in the TDC’s building on Central Street where a brief but significant ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion.

Among the attendees at the event were representatives of the TDC Group of Companies – which has partnered with Sagicor for the past seven years - Chairman Earl Kelly and Director Nicholas Menon, Sagicor’s Local General Manager Denrick Connor, CEO of Sagicor Life Eastern Caribbean Operations Donald Austin, Sagicor’s Chief Operating Officer Trevor Vigo and members of the public.

According to Connor, the ceremony was twofold as it marked the official opening of the new offices as well as the launch of Sagicor’s commemorative 175 Endowment Plan, which provides investment opportunities for its existing and prospective clients.

Connor praised the team that worked on preparing the offices for putting together what he described as “a work of art, worthy of praise and applause”.

“This new environment will greatly assist us in our quest for exceeding client expectations and creating that desirable and unforgettable customer experience, an integral component of our corporate strategic initiatives.”

Sagicor was founded as the Barbados Mutual Life Assurance Society and in 1866 it planted its roots in St. Kitts. And as was expressed by Austin, since then, it “has grown to be the leading indigenous financial services company in the region. Sagicor has formulated its business strategy around our commitment to the region and its people”.

Kelly said Sagicor’s longevity is testament to its stability, ability, strength and vision, and noted that TDC readily accepted the opportunity to partner by becoming its agent in St. Kitts/Nevis when given the chance to do so.

He said the alliance has been a fruitful one, one which he cherishes and predicted that it would continue solutions for the betterment of the lives of the people of the Federation.

Shortly before the new facility was toured by those present, Menon, in giving the vote of thanks, informed that the Sagicor office in Nevis was also undergoing upgrade.

The spacious facility includes two conference rooms, an administrative department, a sales department, managers’ offices and a welcoming reception area.
