BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A shooting incidemt which took place last evening in Sandy Point has left one dead and another nursing gunshot wounds.
Information reaching this publication suggests that sometime before 11:00 p.m. three individuals were attempting to leave a party in Sandy Point and before the vehicle they were boarding (R17) could have left the area, an individual reportedly approached and opened fire. Notwithstanding, the three men were able to leave the scene but only got as far as Cleverly Hill.
With two of the individuals injured, the Emergency Medical Services was summoned to the scene and one was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Javier Caines alias 'Percy', an employee of the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services. He reportedly died while still in the vehicle.
His death registers the seventh homicide to have taken place within the Federation for the year.
All of the previous six took occurred in January.
Investigations are ongoing.
