SKN Wins Courts OECS Reading Competition 2016

    (EMU) – St. Kitts, March 7, 2016: Representative of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis Federation Hrishikesh Srinivasan (Pronounced Ricky Keesh Rinvasan) student of the Maude Crosse Preparatory School of Nevis has won the Courts OECS Reading Competition 2016. 

     

    Nine-year-old Srinivasan won the National Courts Reading Competition in September 2015.  He travelled to Dominica where he outperformed his five competitors in a keenly contested competition to be adjudged the winner of the Courts OECS Reading Competition held at the Arawak House of Culture on Thursday 3, March.
     
    Srinivasan, the lone male in the competition, amassed six hundred and ninety-seven (697) points and was awarded five thousand ($5000.00) dollars and a Kindle Fire as his prize.  The first runner up was, Shekinah Campbell of St Vincent and the Grenadines with six hundred and ninety-one (691) points who won three thousand dollars ($3000.00). Jazz Dias of Antigua and Barbuda placed second runner up with six hundred and eighty-eight (688) points and won two thousand dollars ($2000.00).
     
     
    Hrishikesh Srinivasan is expected to return to Nevis today where he will be received at a well-deserved welcoming ceremony.  
    The Ministry of Education extends its congratulations to Hrishikesh Srinivasan, his family and his school, The Maude Crosse Preparatory.  
     
    The Ministry of Education partners with Courts on an annual basis to help encourage youth to develop positive reading habits.
