March 15th, 2016 -- His Excellency Ghauti Benmoussat, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria visited the Federation from 9th to 12th March 2016.
Ambassador Benmoussat paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, the Honorurable Mark Brantley.
Minister Brantley expressed the Government’s desire to deepen bilateral relations between the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. Particularly, the Foreign Minister proposed the possibility of a Visa Waiver Agreement to facilitate ease of travel for citizens of both states.
As tourism is key to our economy, it is imperative to ensure that citizens of other countries can travel hassle-free to our shores to savour our tourism product. It is equally important that our citizens can do likewise to experience different cultures. Ease of travel for citizens can also strengthen bilateral relations.
Ambassador Benmoussat affirmed Algeria’s desire to work more closely with the Federation to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Algerian diplomat is expected to return shortly to the Federation to present his Letter of Credence to the Head of State, the Governor General Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, G.C.M.G, C.V.O, Q.C. J.P.
