Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 15, 2016 (SKNIS): Ms. Valencia Grant has been appointed Press Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, made the disclosure during his opening remarks at his monthly press conference on March 15, 2016.

Introducing Ms. Grant to the nation, Prime Minister Harris said Ms. Grant is highly qualified and well suited for the position.

“Ms. Grant of course comes to this office with wide experience and training with both undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Journalism and Communication,” said Prime Minister Harris who also indicated that Ms. Grant has “experience with the government, having started her own career as a young teenager in the Government Information Service.”

The Prime Minister further stated, “She has extended her whims to the private sector where she worked with a number of entities before finding herself in the tourism and hospitality industry.”

Offering words of welcome, Dr. Harris said, “We are very pleased and confident that she will bring added value to our communications mandate.”

Ms. Grant replaces Clecton Phillip who demitted the Office of Press Secretary at the end of February after one year of service. Prime Minister Harris, in a previous press conference, thanked Mr. Phillip for his contribution to the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
