BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A dominant batting performance from the Barbados Pride on the second day of their 10th round regional encounter against the Leeward Island Hurricanes has put them in pole position to capture the Professional Cricket League 4-Day title.

Barbados racked up 436 all out in their first innings on a good batting track at the small Warner Park Cricket Stadium after resuming the day on 145/4.

The total was amassed from a stroke-filled half century by West Indies pacer Kemar Roach who has returned from an injury layoff, and a patient 62 from Roston Chase.

But it was Shane Dowrich’s innings that laid the foundation for the huge total. He pummelled the bowlers to all parts of the ground and missed out on triple figures by four runs, as he reached the boundary on seven occasions (1x6 and 6x4).

Rahkeem Cornwall with 5 for 155 was the pick of the bowlers, and he gained support from Jeremiah Louis who bagged 2-58 from 13 overs.

The Hurricanes will resume day three trailing by 299 runs after closing play at 18 for 1 in their second innings, following yet another disappointing batting performance.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Hurricanes were bundled out for 119 with Jahmar Hamilton 42 and Kieran Powell 33.

It has been yet another disappointing season for the Hurricanes which currently sit in fifth position on the points table.

Meanwhile, Barbados will be looking to close out the game and put pressure on the Guyana Jaguars that is taking on the Jamaica Scorpions at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown.

Currently, Prides trail Jaguars by seven points heading into this clash.

The Jamaicans will resume day three on 171 for 5, trailing by 249 runs after the Jaguars posted 420 all out, in which West Indies Under-19 skipper Shemar Hetmyer stroke his maiden first class century.
