By: Christophe Harbour, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 11th March 2016 – Many young people took advantage of the Christophe Harbour Development Job Fair, when they turned out to complete applications and have initial interviews done.

Hundreds of young people turned out to the first-ever Christophe Harbour Job Fair, held at Port Zante, Basseterre, on Friday, 11th March.

It is estimated that well over 200 persons attended the Christophe Harbour Development first-ever job fair that was held at Port Zante. The door to the fair opened at 10 am, with a large number of persons among the early job hunters. By closing time, 4 pm, Christophe Harbour personnel were still interviewing applicants.

Human Resources Manager Akela Browne of Christophe Harbour said the response was better than expected. She said, “It has been a great response. We actually didn’t think that so many people would have shown up today, and it just goes to show that a lot of people out there who are looking for work.”

The job fair might become an annual affair. She said, “It is something we are actually thinking about doing on a regular basis, maybe annually or bi-annually. That’s something we might consider based on today’s response.”

Such was the high level of turnout to the Christophe Harbour Job Fair, personnel had to stop accepting persons for interviews. Those persons filled out the application forms and will have their follow-up interview at a later date. Browne said, “There were just too many people, and we could not finish doing all the interviews today. It was really a great response from the public.”

Browne explained earlier that the idea behind the job fair being held at Port Zante was to improve access for job seekers. In doing so, she said Christophe Harbour Development will also have a better opportunity to select new members into the team.

Current career opportunities available were cited in about six areas, inclusive of Landscape Technicians, Kitchen Assistants, Bartenders, Servers, Safety and Security Officers, as well as Dockhands.

According to Browne, Christophe Harbour is looking for persons who have great personality, who can interact appropriately with guests as the company builds around the luxury concept and experience.

Browne indicated, “Christophe Harbour is growing rapidly, as the premier tourism development in St. Kitts and Nevis. There will be many career opportunities for individuals and technical persons.”

The 2500-acre Christophe Harbour development includes residential properties, restaurants, a hotel, a super-yacht marina, a planned world-class golf course and several other amenities.
