BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Italian Government, through its Honorary Consul to that country, Ashton Amory, this morning (Mar. 23) donated a quantity of football uniforms to the Parliamentary Representatives for Constituency Eight, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton.

The Minister will then pass the uniforms on to the three clubs in his Constituency - Conaree FC, Cayon FC and St. Peter’s FC - all of which are competing in the top flight of local football, the Premier League.

In accepting the gifts at a simple presentation ceremony at Amory's office on Victoria Roadown office, Minister Hamilton explained that the gifts were part of a request he made shortly after assuming office in 2015.

It was at that juncture the Honorary Consul in return made the request to the Government of Italy to assist the clubs.

“When I became the Minister, I approached him and said I have three first class teams in the competition and all three are doing well, and we need to assist them with some football gears. Mr. Amory did not hesitate, and so when I further went on to Italy, I had met with the officials there who had known about the request I had made through Mr. Amory,” Hamilton said.

Amory told Hamilton that he was thankful to the President of the Italian Football Association for the donation.

“Hon. Minister Hamilton, I am very, very pleased on behalf of the Government and people and the President of the Italian Football Federation to hand over a number of football supplies that you requested a few months ago.”

Against that backdrop, Amory revealed that the Italians have assisted the Federation in a number of ways and would continue into the future because a “cordial relationship” exist between the two countries.

In accepting the donation from Amory, Minister Hamilton said that the gears would go a long way in assisting the teams in their preparations for games, while pushing them to perform at their best.

“Today, I am pleased to be standing with Mr. Amory as those gears, shorts and jerseys have arrived and he is pleased to hand them over to me so I can share them with the three major football teams in my constituency.”

SKNVibes Sports was told that a request was made for 100 pieces of uniform items to be divided among the three clubs.
