By: MOFA, Press Release

St. Kitts, March 26, 2016 (MOFA): The Crans Montana Forum held in Dakhla, Morocco also included the New Leaders for Tomorrow-Youth Forum designed to enhance youth representation and dialogue dedicated to Africa, regional cooperation and the future of South-South cooperation.

Mr. Anselm Caines was amongst the five members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) region to receive an award of recognition for youth leadership and involvement.  Altogether, there were approximately 36 awardees representing their respective countries. The award was presented at a special ceremony, by esteemed civil rights leader, Reverend Jesse Jackson, who also delivered inspirational remarks.

In addition to the receipt of this award, Mr. Caines used this opportunity to articulate the Kittitian -Nevisian perspective on issues relating to avenues through which governments in Africa and the Caribbean can strengthen bilateral arrangements to provide more jobs and opportunities for the youth of both regions.  He also used the platform to advocate for deeper cooperation in the energy and education sector, advocating particularly for training opportunities for young people in countries such as Morocco that is currently being celebrated as the leader in the African continent for renewable energy development.

These ideas, of course, are similar to the sentiments expressed by Minister Brantley at the CMF's session: “Without Energy Security, No Progress No Growth”. They are also in keeping with the mandate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pursue deeper cooperation with our development partners in Africa.
