BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 11TH 2005  - Government is expected to sign an agreement on Wednesday for the construction of a multi-million dollar upscale resort at Belmont Estate in the Whitegate area of St. Kitts.
St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Tourism, Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas made the disclosure during a News Conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Prime Minister Douglas said the agreement was being finalised Tuesday by officials of the relevant ministries in time for the signing ceremony late Wednesday morning in the Parliamentary Lounge at Government Headquarters.

"Kittitian Heights Resort is a very important development that will see construction of 250 villas, a Spa, a recording studio, an 18-hole International Championship Golf Course and a horticultural project," Dr. Douglas told reporters.

"We are hoping construction will start no later than January next year," said Prime Minister Douglas, who indicated that the project was three months behind but hoped that the horticultural component of the project would commence by the end of the year.
