Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 07, 2016 (SKNIS): Acting Consul General in the St. Kitts and Nevis' Consulate General in Dubai, Elsa Wilkin-Armbrister, has revealed that residents of the United Arab Emirates have expressed interest in investing in St. Kitts and Nevis as well as being part of the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) Programme.
Mrs. Wilkin-Armbrister mentioned this at the Press Conference at the start of Diplomatic Week 2016 (April 04), when she noted that recently residents have been making enquiries and weighing the two options.
“Now people are becoming more cautious, they are trying to figure out, should I put my money into the citizenship programme or should I invest in St. Kitts and Nevis,” she said. “So a lot of the questions I get now are based on investment. You know – what kinds of opportunities are there in the federation to invest in? Is it ripe for investment? And so on.”
The Dubai Acting Consul General explained that at the moment her duty therefore includes educating on what is available in St. Kitts and Nevis, in addition to providing information on CBI opportunities.
She further elaborated on her role at the Consulate General in Dubai.
“Presently the consulate offers its citizens there the opportunities to get their passport renewed, to get assistance if they need it,” Mrs. Wilkin-Armbrister said. “We have quite a bit of citizens in Dubai and in the surrounding countries. Part of my task is to develop better relationships. Currently Dubai offers training in the area of healthcare; they will train nurses from developing countries. We’re trying to negotiate that.”
Mrs. Wilkin-Armbrister further revealed that pertaining to sustainable development, a team from the Middle East is scheduled to be in St. Kitts and Nevis later this year, in order to do an assessment to find out the federation’s sustainable energy needs which may possibly include a desalination plant among others.
Specific to art, Vaughn Anslyn of Nevis will be travelling to Dubai to take part in an art exhibition. He had been selected from a list of artists provided by the consulate.
Young children of the Middle East are also being given the opportunity to learn about the culture of the Federation, its situation on the map and so forth thanks to the outreach efforts of the consulate. At the university level, the available opportunities to pursue tertiary level education in the Federation are being advertized.
