Shooting stemmed from armed robbery says Police

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE shooting of a man who is currently in hospital was the result of an armed robbery, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has informed.

     

    The incident occurred at about 12:00 a.m. (Apr. 11) when, according to a Police press release “three or four masked men armed with a handgun and a baseball bat entered the Games Sports Video Plus and robbed the establishment.”

     

    It further explained that a total of two individuals were injured during the incident, however they were not identified.

     

    “Two persons were injured, one being hit with a baseball bat. He was treated at the Pogson Hospital and released. The other sustained a single gunshot injury and is presently warded at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.”

     

    The communique does not speak of arrests of persons of interest however, it solicits the assistance of the public in providing relevant information about the incident.

     

    “Officers of the Sandy Point Police Station and the Criminal Investigations Department are investigating the incident and have asked for the support of the public in finding the perpetrators. If you were in the area of the ‘Games Sports Video Plus’ between 11.00pm to shortly after midnight on Sunday (April 10) may have seen any activity, please contact the Police. What you may have seen could be of value in solving this crime.”

     

    Those who have relevant information are asked to contact the Sandy Point Police Station at 465-6261, any other police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS).
