BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man, who had injured a security guard of RAM’S Supermarket at the Bay Road in Basseterre last Thursday, was charge over the weekend with the offence.

According to a police release, the man, Charles Moses of Green Tree Housing, Old Road, “was arrested, formally charged and cautioned on a warrant in the first instance for Wounding committed on April 7, 2016”.

Shortly after the incident, SKNVibes arrived on the scene and met a reporter from Winn FM speaking to one of RAM’s employees outside the supermarket.

She told the reporter that at about 9:30 that morning some male employees were offloading supplies from a vehicle and passing them through a doorway that leads to the storeroom of the business establishment.

However, while doing so, a man had entered the building using the same doorway and was stopped by a security guard who told him that customers were not allowed to use that entrance.

The man, identified as Moses, reportedly became angry for being reproached and a fight started between him and the security guard.

The security guard was hoisted in the air and slammed to the ground, which resulted in him losing consciousness as blood was seen oozing from an injury to the back of his head.

The employee also said that during incident a female intervened and pulled Moses off the security guard.

She further said that Moses attempted to run away from the scene and was heading in the direction of Courts Furniture Store when a police officer gave chase and took him back to the supermarket.

He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Basseterre Police Station while the security guard, whose name was given only as Abbott, was transported to the JNF Hospital via a unit from the Emergency medical Services.
