CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – FOLLOWING last night’s drive-by shooting of Kishanda Clarke, also known as Kishanda Wallace, of Government Road, Charlestown, Nevis, one man was arrested and a car was impounded.

According to a police release, investigations revealed that at about 8:00 p.m. while walking along the Stuart Williams Drive, Clarke was shot by an unknown assailant in a passing car.

“The assailant(s) fired several gunshots at the individual striking him multiple times. The victim was transported to the Alexandra Hospital and is being treated for his injuries,” the release said.

It also stated that a warrant executed on the home of the suspect led to his arrest and the impounding of the car.

Unconfirmed report reaching this media house stated that the impounded car belongs to a close relative of the suspect.

It was learnt that Clarke was struck twice in the left shoulder and once in the left leg, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

One individual told this media house that the perpetrator or perpetrators had fired about 14 shots and it is believed that an automatic firearm was used in commission of the crime.

The release quoted Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley as saying, “In light of these back-to-back incidents on Nevis, the High Command and the Heads of the Tactical Units will meet on Monday (April 18) to look at an immediate response to arrest this type of behaviour.”

He also said: “I commend the community for coming forward and assisting in these investigations. Your information helped to move these cases forward. We urge anyone with information that can assist the police in these two incidents, or any of our other investigations, to call any police station in the Federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline, at 1-800-8477 to share information.”

Queeley added that “together we can reduce crime and the fear of crime in our communities”.

The second incident to which he spoke concerns the shooting-death of Vincey Ferlance of Bath Village.

Ferlance was shot in the torso at about 3:00 a.m. on Saturday while in attendance at a fundraising event held at Lime Beach Bar on Pinney’s Beach, Nevis. He died while being transported to the Alexandra Hospital.
