To refuel international and regionally vessels

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LEADING fuel provider in St. Kitts and Nevis, Delta Petroleum today (Apr. 22) commissioned a Fuel Booth at the Port Zante Marina.

The new facility is equipped with two pumps to provide refuelling service to any vessel, internationally or regionally-owned, entering Port St. Kitts.

Speaking with media representatives, Island Manager Robert Liburd explained that in December the company had gained approval from the relevant authorities to erect a fuel station at the port and construction works began shortly thereafter.

“We had to reconstruct the whole area here for the booth, where we have installed a diesel tank and gasoline tank,” Liburd said.

According to the Island Manager, the facility would be providing 91 octane gasoline which is a different fuel to what gas stations provide.

He pointed out that most ports in the region have refuelling stations but there was none in St. Kitts, noting that in the past a tanker had to enter the facility to provide the service, which would have seen an increasing in the price of fuel.

Liburd however stated that this initiative would provide round the clock service to all in need.

“The system we have here now would allow us to have really good prices. Provide 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. service, you are looking at around the clock service. This allows us to service boats regionally and the local fishermen.”

Regional General Manager Devis Sylvester told the gathering that this initiative forms part of the company’s vision of reaching every shore in the Caribbean region.

He declared that the company’s plan includes its employees and this strategy would ensure efficiency.

“I learned a long time ago that if we take care of our employees, our employees will take care of our customers.”

A number of managers from various regional offices were present at the ceremony, including Managing Director Veron Lake.
