Tessanne, fans excited about upcoming NYC performance

    New York: A past winner and an enduring favorite of NBC's smash television series The Voice, Tessanne Chin, will join the company of Grammy Award winners Brian McKnight, Peabo Bryson and reggae luminaries Beres Hammond and Toots Hibbert as headline performers at Groovin In The Park 2016 at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens.

     

    The annual summer concert takes place on Sunday June 26 and the Jamaican songbird took to twitter to announce her glee saying "can't wait !!! #GroovinInThePark."

    Radio host Ras Clem, who made the announcement on Groovin Radio, WVIP, 93.5FM in New York said "We are excited to welcome Tessanne to the New York area for this very important assignment. She is an extraordinary performer with a powerhouse voice. This is her 'Diaspora 'welcome home party' and fans are over the moon" he noted.

    Announcement of her upcoming performance has sparked interest among loyal Voice TV viewers in the tri-state who voted in droves to ensure her victory in 2013. 

    "I am an avid Tessanne Chin supporter" Jamaican born, Mt. Vernon, NY resident Esroy Bernard stated.

    "I fell in love with her voice when I heard 'Hideaway'. I voted for her on the Voice and can't wait to see her live on stage at Groovin In The Park" he said.

    Since 2013, Tessanne has travelled the world performing for VIP guests including the President of the USA  Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Her first album after her Voice win  'Count on My Love' -  included popular tracks 'Tumbling Down,' 'Everything Reminds Me of You' and 'People Change'.  'Fire,' the next release was produced by Grammy Award-winning produced Justice League (Mary J. Blige, Drake). 
     
    Her latest offering 'Love Suicide,' is now a staple on reggae radio in the tri-state area. Fans will be looking to hear the aforementioned songs as well as her rendition of Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing' and Simon & Garfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' which soared to #1 on the iTunes Overall Top Songs chart when it was released in 2013. Tessanne was named Caribbean Journal's 2013 Artist of the Year. A few moths later she was honored at the University of the West Indies Fifth Annual Toronto Benefit Gala where she was given a Luminary Award alongside her long-time mentor, reggae legend Jimmy Cliff.
