BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MERE days after a female adolescent appeared before Magistrate Donna Harris for allegedly stabbing her brother to death, another family feud occurred resulting in one member suffering burns to the body.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that two brothers from Keys Village were engaged in an altercation yesterday (May 5) and one of them threw a pot of hot water on the other causing him to suffer multiple burns on his neck, shoulders, chest and hands.

This was confirmed by the police, who in a press release informed that the incident took place at approximately 5:45 p.m. and the injured person was transported to the JNF General Hospital for treatment.

The release also informed that the alleged assailant is currently in custody and the grievous bodily harm incident is being investigated by members of the Special Victims.

On the evening of Saturday (Apr. 30), a female, not yet 18 years old, had allegedly inflicted a single stab wound to the chest of her older brother during an altercation in Sandy Point.

The brother, Kurtnell Richardson, was transported to the JNF General Hospital but succumbed to his injury before medical treatment could have been administered.

The juvenile was arrested, charged with manslaughter and was granted bail with a number of conditions following her appearance in court before Magistrate Harris.

She is to attend and participate in directed counselling sessions; adhere to a 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. curfew; continue enrolment in current education programme; and to keep away from undesirables and bad company.

Additionally, she is to have regular contact with the assigned Probation Officer.

A police release said, “The juvenile was released into parental custody with directions to report to the Basseterre Juvenile sitting later this month.”

Kurtnell Richardson’s death has taken to 11 the number of homicides committed in the Federation for the year; eight on St. Kitts and three on Nevis. However, this is the first non-gun-related homicide recorded for the year.
