Vehicles collide at roundabout

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – INVESTIGATORS and other individuals are still trying to figure out how two vehicles ended up side-by-side on the triangular island which sits to the west of the roundabout which leads to the St. Peters area.

Both vehicles were involved in a traffic accident this afternoon (May 9) which occurred at about 2:30.

The Traffic Department informed SKNVibes that motorcar P9448 – which was being driven by Ivon Connor of St. Paul’s and motor pickup P3824 – owned and driven by Alphonso Dyer of Trafalgar Village were the two vehicles involved.

It further indicated that according to information it had received, P9448 was travelling from east to west along the F. T. Williams Highway and while going around the roundabout, P3824, which was at the south give-way sign, drove out of that area and collided with P9448.

This somehow resulted in both vehicles coming to rest on the triangular island, colliding with the concrete display and uprooting it in the process.

SKNVibes understands that two pedestrians who were on the back of the motor pickup when the incident occurred, were taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where they were treated and discharged.

The Traffic Department advised that it is making inquiries into the incident and would lay charges if and when it becomes necessary.
