BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN elderly woman of St. Paul’s Village was struck by a vehicle yesterday (May 14) and the Traffic Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver.

SKNVibes received information that shortly before 10:00 a.m. yesterday, the woman was struck down while walking across the Bay Road.

Contact with the Traffic Department revealed that the incident did occur and that the Department is endeavouring to ascertain who the assailant is.

The victim, who has been identified as Mary French, 61, was making an attempt to cross College Street Ghaut along the Bay Road from east to west and in the process, what has been identified as a white car or jeep came out of the stop and struck her.

French reportedly received assistance from individuals who observed what took place and she was place into the same vehicle and taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, where she has been warded. She reportedly suffered a neck injury.

The Traffic Department told SKNVibes that the driver of the vehicle, a woman, left the hospital and failed to report the incident to the police. And as such, the Department is asking members of the public who might have information relative to this incident to kindly contact the Traffic Department or the nearest police station.

    Investigations are being made.
