BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONE person, termed by police as “an individual of interest”, is currently in custody after allegedly found in possession of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition.
A police communiqué stated that during a community safety patrol in Cayon around 8:20 last night (May 14), officers of the Tactical Unit had pursued an individual of interest and seized a .40mm pistol and a magazine with 14 matching rounds of ammunition.
The communiqué indicated that the seizure occurred in the “shanty town” area in Cayon, which this media house understands to be an area in Cunningham Village in Lower Cayon.
The police report also stated that the individual was arrested, taken into custody and charges are likely to be filed shortly.
Last night’s seizure brings to nine illegal firearms and over 109 rounds of assorted ammunition removed from the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis.
