GREAT BAY (May 16, 2016)—On Wednesday, May 18, the Independence for St. Martin Foundation (ISMF) will make a presentation to the Parliament of St. Maarten, on two agenda points, according to the ISMF.

The first agenda point scheduled for the meeting is the “Holding of a referendum on independence” in the territory. St. Maarten is a territory of the Netherlands.

The second agenda point identified in the May 9 letter from Parliament to the ISMF is, “Getting the territory of St. Maarten on the United Nations Decolonization list,” which is formally known as the List of Non-Self-Governing Territories.
The meeting is open to the public

Given the importance of the issues that will be discussed concerning the political future of St. Maarten, the Independence foundation is inviting the general public to attend the meeting, which starts at 11 a.m. at the House of Parliament, said Joseph H. Lake, Jr.,  president of the ISMF.
