By: SKNOC, Press Release

23rd May, 2016  --  Mr Enoete Larry Inanga and Ms Tanika Liburd, (National Track and Field Athletes) will depart the Federation on Monday 23rd May, 2016, for Miami, Florida, where they will be representatives of the St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee at the first Continental Athlete Forum for the Americas to be held in there on May 24th and 25th, 2016.

This two (2) day conference which is being organized by the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO) in collaboration with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) will:

    • Foster athletes’ development and improve their representation within their NOC

    • Discuss current issues that affect athletes

    • Create a platform to exchange best practices amongst athlete leaders

    • Provide the opportunity to improve communication between Athlete Commissions and athlete representatives across the region

    • Create a communication network between the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and National Olympic Committees (NOC)

    • Share tools to improve athletes’ development on and off the field of play

The main objective of the PASO Athlete Forum is to bring together athlete representatives from each of our 41 nations of the PASO for a 2 day educational workshop.

Also, on this occasion, experts on the related topics will aim to better educate, empower and communicate pertinent issues affecting athletes within the PASO region and globally, gain information on tools available to further develop their performance on and off the field of play and improve athlete representation in their respective countries.

The SKNOC took the decision to finance an extra participant to ensure that there was one female and one male representative -- a decision which coincides positively with the committed and expressed goal of the SKNOC to encourage and facilitate increased female participation in training opportunities and access to positions of responsibility and authority.
