Scotiabank assists professionals to build their business

Attorney Elizabeth Kelsick, Partner of Kelsick Wilkin and Ferdinand addressing the attendees of the Professional Seminar at Scotiabank’s Fort Street Branch
Press Release

St. Kitts – More self-employed professionals have been given the tools to assist in building their businesses, thanks to a recent seminar at Scotiabank. A wide cross section of professionals turned out at the Fort Street Branch for the presentation aimed at benefitting self-employed professionals.

Guest speaker, attorney Elizabeth Kelsick, Partner of Kelsick Wilkin and Ferdinand, advised business owners on how they could avoid some of the common legal pitfalls that plague businesses - such as poor corporate governance, business systems and proper corporate structure and its benefits. During her presentation she highlighted the pitfalls of co-mingling, or treating business funds the same as personal money.  Ms. Kelsick pointed out that keeping funds separate is a very important step to keep the limited liability of a company intact, something each business owner wants to ensure.

Business Banking Manager, Veon Blake, discussed the Scotia Professional Plan with attendees, an enhanced, customizable, financial services package which has been designed specifically to meet the needs of independent professionals such as doctors, lawyers, dentists and architects. Mr. Blake stated that the Plan is specifically designed to help professionals meet their day-to-day money management needs so they can worry less about finances and concentrate on running their businesses smoothly and building their profession.  “This is why we host seminars like this throughout the year - to give business owners the tools they need for success,” he noted.
