Nevis youth remanded on gun, ammo charges

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – IN their quest to make the twin-island Federation a better place to live, visit and to conduct business, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have removed yet another illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition off the streets.

     

    A police report stated that following a stop and search operation in the Fig Tree area in Nevis on Thursday (Jun. 9), a young man was found to be in possession of an illegal firearm and seven rounds of matching ammunition.

    His name was given as Patrick Howell Jr. of Cane Garden and he was formally charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and smuggling of a firearm.

    He has since appeared before a magistrate and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison. 

    This seizure has taken to 12 the number of illegal firearms and over 134 rounds of assorted ammunition removed from the Federation’s streets for the year.
