Scotiabankers Donate to Pediatric Assistance League

Scotiabank country manager Dave Ramsumair is joined by employees as he hands over a cheque to Giselle Matthews, President of PALS
Press Release

St, Kitts, June 14, 2016 – $10,000 more reasons to smile.

This is what Scotiabank country manager Dave Ramsumair and his team handed over to the Pediatric Assistance League of St. Kitts-Nevis (PALS) recently.

It came in the form of a $10,000 cheque, part of which was raised by a car wash which was held jointly by staff members from the Bird Rock and Fort Street branches in April.

The fundraiser was the 7th annual edition of Scotiabank’s fund-raising car wash and each year, staff contribute to a different cause, ranging from primary schools to the Diabetes Association and the Cancer Association.

This year, PALS was the recipient of Scotiabankers’ generosity. The organisation helps cover the costs for children who have been referred overseas for medical treatment, brings in specialists to treat children in the country and also helps pay for expensive medications or assisted living devices.

The bankers’ efforts in April were doubled, as Eileen Bennett, manager of Scotiabank’s Bird Rock branch, revealed that they applied to Scotiabank’s global philanthropic program which matches funds that employees raise for charitable causes.

Country manager Dave Ramsumair praised PALS for the important work they did and said Scotiabank was happy to be able to assist them.

“When a child is critically ill, that has to be one of the emotionally and financially devastating things that a family can go through. We need organisations like PALS which support children and their families through such an experience. At Scotiabank, children and young people are central to our philanthropy and I am proud of the efforts spearheaded by Eileen Bennett and her Bird Rock Team, to assist such a worthwhile cause,” said Ramsumair.
