50 Cent arrested after Music Fest performance

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POPULAR rap artiste Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson III was arrested this morning (Jun. 25) after his St. Kits Music Festival performance and charged with making use of indecent language.

The rapper, – known for his explosive lyrics which are sometimes riddled with expletives – was selected and contracted by a branch of the St. Kitts Music Festival Committee to perform at the event.

SKNVibes understands that the artiste did make use of expletives during his performance and after it concluded he was arrested by the police. It is further understood that his bodyguard was also arrested and charged with obstruction of a police officer(s) while in the execution of his duties.

The men have since been bailed reportedly by two individuals, one of whom is an executive in one of the largest companies within the Federation.

It is expected that since 50 Cent is to leave the country during the mid-afternoon of today, he would appear before the court before such time arrives.

The incident is reminiscent of one which occurred in June 2003 when American rapper DMX was arrested and charged for using profanity during his performance at the 8th annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

Attempts to contact Ambassador Jonel Powell – Chair of the Music Festival’s Artiste Selection Committee – and the Hon. Lindsay F. Grant concerning 50 Cent’s arrest proved futile.
