Police Press Release 7/4/16: Report of arrest, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 4, 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrest, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period July 01-03.

     

    ARREST AND BAIL:
    Arrested: Jordan Hammond of U.S.A./St. Peters was arrested and formally charged and cautioned without a warrant for the offences of driving without obtaining the relevant license and driving when not covered by Insurance. Bailed: He was granted bail in the sum of $3,000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Thursday 7th July,2016.
     
    Arrested: Joseph Charles of Back Way, Sandy Point was arrested and charged and cautioned of Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cocaine (Crack). Bailed:  He was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for his appearance at the District B Magistrate Court on Monday, 4th  August, 2016.
     
    Arrested: Kingsley Saunders of Taylor's Housing was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Battery.  Bailed: He was granted bail in the sum of $3,000.00 E.C.C for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday 8th August 2016.  
     
    Arrested: Shirmon Sinclair of Farms Estate, Nevis was arrested and formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Attempted Arson which took place at the Old House Cafe at Pump Road. 
     
    Bailed: R.  Bennett of Dieppe Bay and C. Mitchell also of Dieppe Bay who was charged with the offences of simple Larceny committed on 17th June 2016, at Dieppe Bay was bailed out in the sum of $5000.00 E.C.C for their appearance at the District "B" magistrate court on 8th August 2016. Condition: the Defendant is to have no contact with the V/C.
     
    COURT CONVICTIONS:-
    In matters at the District "B' Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Mrs Karen  Hill Hector,  Kamal Maynard of Sandy Point who was charged with the offence of dangerous driving in Saddlers village was convicted and ordered to pay a fine of $1500.00 by August 01, 2016 or if in default serve thirty (30) days in prison.
     
    -Daren Lawrence of Mount Idle ,Sandy Point who was charged with the offence of driving without valid and unexpired licence in Sandy Point was convicted and ordered to pay a fine of $300.00 to be paid by July 15, 2016 or if in default serve thirty (30) days in prison at hard Labour.
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Armed Robbery:- Police is investigating a report of armed robbery that occurred about 8:40 pm on July 01, 2016 at the Palms Court Entertainment Centre on Main Street Charlestown.  Investigations revealed that two unknown armed masked men, dressed in all black clothing entered the location and demanded monies, a sum of money was taken. Officers from Violent Crimes Unit, Criminal Investigations Department,  Beat and Patrol and Task Force canvassed the areas between Chapel Street and Ramsbury in search of any suspected persons but the search proved futile. The investigations in this matter continues.
     
    House Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a number of reports, three (3) of house breaking and larceny that occurred in the July 01, 2016 in the Half Moon area. All residents reported that upon returning home they discovered that their apartments were broken into and a number of valuable items form each was stolen. All scenes were processed and the investigations are ongoing.
     
    House Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a report of breaking and larceny that occurred at Bird Rock at about 2.15pm on  July 02, 2016. The resident reported that upon returning home at about 7.30pm discovered the apartment broken into an items were stolen and apparently the intruder(s) picked the lock to the front door. The scene was processed and investigations are ongoing.
     
    House Breaking with Intent:- At about 10.31am on July 03, 2016,  resident(s) of Soho Housing Development reported that they secured their house on July 02, 2016 at about 6.00pm and on July 03, 2016 discovered it broken into. Nothing was discovered missing. Scene was processed and investigation is ongoing.
     
    House Breaking and Larceny:- Police is investigating a report of House Breaking on Larceny on East Park Range. Investigations reveal that on June 29, 2016 the resident secured the house and upon return on July 02, 20-16 discovered the house broken into and the following items missing: one 40" TCL flat screen TV, one black 6" rectangle  Ip TV value $100.00 ECC, three amps, one sub woofer and one HP printer, value unknown. The scene was processed the Crime Scene Unit.  Further investigations will continue.
     
    House Breaking and larceny:- A resident of Prospect Estates reported that they secured their home at 9.15pm on June 30, 2016  and went to sleep. They reported that on July 01, 2016 they  discovered that the home was broken into. Investigations revealed that the intruder took some coins from a chest of drawer. There was nothing else reported to be missing.  The investigation continues.
     
    Traffic Accidents: Nine (9) traffic accidents occurred on the federation’s roadways in St. Kitts (5) for the period 1st July and (4) for the period 2nd July.  
     
    Community Engagement: Knock and Greet, Officers of the New Castle Police Station conducted a knock and greet and walk through in the Fountain Village, they spoke with  persons in that community  and they were all  pleased with seeing police presence. A number of concerns raised by the residents were noted.  
     
    Citizen Safety: Police continues to conduct Vehicular Check Points and or Stop and Searches and several searches of abandoned properties. Over the weekend, random searches of the Ferries and persons at the terminal were conducted.   The check points and searches were done in efforts to ensure Citizen Safety, by removing any found Illegal Firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs, and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes
