BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN attempt made by a little boy to get from one side of a street to another resulted in him sustaining injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

The lad, who is about nine years old, is currently at the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he is reportedly nursing a broken leg.

The incident, which led to his injury, occurred yesterday afternoon (Jul. 4) on Cayon Street in the vicinity Dr. Hodge’s office.

The Traffic Department reported that motor pickup P8405 – property of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis but attached to Her Majesty’s Prison – was travelling eastward when the child ran across the road.

The driver – Prison Officer Cardinal Collins of King Street – attempted to decelerate but was not able to come to a stop before making contact with the child.

The child was taken to the hospital via a unit of the Emergency Medical Services.

Investigations into the incident are being made.
