BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SIX of seven persons with ties to St. Kitts and Nevis who are wanted by the Interpol had received the Federation’s citizenship between 2007 and 2014, according to Prime Minister, Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris.

Addressing a question posted by a reporter at his recent press conference, Dr. Harris indicated that all of the names on the wanted list had obtained citizenship under the former Denzil Douglas-led Labour administration.

“This is part of the inheritance,” the PM noted.

A report published by a regional news agency indicated that Qunqun Zheng, Biao Ren, Chad Zachary Hower, Hongxia Wang, Hanren Xia, Alexander Rodionov and Dexter Lewis are all on Interpol’s wanted list for various offences.

Checks carried out by SKNVibes indicate that Lewis is a national of the Federation by birth and is wanted for trafficking in narcotics and unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Meanwhile, Chinese nationals Zheng, Ren, Wang and Xia had obtain citizenship through the CBI programme which has been embroiled in a number of controversies over the last several year.

Just recently an American couple’s citizenship was revoked after it was found that they were being investigated by the American authorities for alleged fraud amounting to millions.

Biao (43) and Zheng (41) are wanted for fraud and forging financial instruments, while Xia and Wang are wanted for fraud and taking deposits from the public illegally.

Alexander Rodionov is a Russian national, who obtained his citizenship during the same period, is on the list for bribery.

In response to the question posed by the reporter on the wanted persons, Dr. Harris said, “So that has nothing to do with Team Unity...it is part of the inheritance and the bad legacy, and we are dealing with that.”
