BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE man who reported to the police that he had murdered his girlfriend, was officially charged with the offence.
A police press release issued today (Jul. 17) indicated that the charged man is Clievlan Lee, a resident of Station Street Old Road, but is a citizen of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The incident for which he is charged took place last week Wednesday (Jul. 13) at the home he shared with Samantha Peniston, who is also of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Lee reportedly stabbed the young woman to death before walking several feet to the Old Road Police Station and reporting to police that he had done the deed.
It was suggested that after the incident, Lee had made an attempt to commit suicide and although he bore signs of injury, a senior officer told SKNVibes that the cause of Lee’s injury(ies) was unknown.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Today’s release explains that after Lee was charged, he was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
Peniston’s death represents the 17th homicide to have taken place within the Federation since the year began.
