Police Press Release 20/07/2016: Report of arrest, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 19, 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrest, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period July 16  thru 18. 

     

    ARREST/BAIL: 
    Arrested:  Ambrose Buchanan of Bouncing Hill, Sandy Point, was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Carrying Abroad An Offensive weapon to wit a cutlass committed on July 18. 
     
    Arrested: Vernon Parris of McKnight was arrested, formally charged and cautioned on a Warrant In The First Instance for the offence of Burglary committed on between 13 and 14 July 2016.  
     
    Arrested: Neury Santa Peguero of New Town was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of driving without a valid driver's license and not being covered by a policy of insurance July 17, 2016 on the  Bay Road.
     
    Arrsted/Bailed: Enslie Lewis of Prickly Pear Alley was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the Offence of Carrying abroad an offensive weapon,  to wit a knife committed on July 16 in Cayon.  He was granted bail in the sum of $3000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on September 5. 
     
    Arrested/Bailed: Elroy Cannonier of Bourkes Road,  Sandy Point was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of possession of cannabis and obstruction under the drug act.  He was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on Monday July 18. 
     
    Bailed:  Chezyown Herbert of Lodge Project who was charged for Driving without Insurance and Driving Unlicensed Vehicle was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate court  on July 18. 
     
    COURT CONVICTIONS: -
    None to report. 
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Building Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a report of Building Breaking and Larceny at the Verchilds High School.  Investigations reveal that at about 00:10am on July 19, assailants broke into of the computer labs at the school.   A search was done and discovered that seven (7) Dell 15" Laptops (Latitude 3340) with blue and red bordering were missing from a storage area in the E.D.P.M Lab. The value of the missing laptops is unknown at this time and no suspect was named. Further investigation to be continued. 
     
    Larceny from the Person: Police is investigating a report of larceny from the person that occurred at about 11:20 am on July 18, the VC was walking along Independence Square Street when a male person ran from behind and pulled away one of the plastic bags that were being carried by the VC and fled the area. The bag contained a Passport, Samsung S6 cellular phone value $500 USC, one thousand dollars USC ($1000.00) and two hundred and seventy dollars E.C.C ($270.00 ECC). Investigations are ongoing. 
     
    Burglary:  Police responded to and are investigating a report of burglary that occurred in the Half Moon Bay area.  Investigations revealed that about 00:20am on July 17, three men dressed in all black with medium built entered the V/C's house and having done that they took her 40 inch Plasma flat screen Television valued at $500 USD, a Samsung Galaxy note 5 valued at $800 USD. The scene was processed the Crime Scene Unit and C.I.D officers. 
     
    Larceny/Malicious Damage: Police is investigating a report of larceny and malicious damage to a yatch at the Port Zante Marina.  Investigations revealed that on  July 11, 2016 the boat hand secured the yacht leaving everything in good condition. On Saturday July 16, 2016 at about 7:50 a.m he went to  the Marina to wash down the yacht and he observed that the rear hatch leading to a cabin on the starboard side of the yacht was opened and the handle broken off. He made a further check and observed that another hatch closed but unlocked and the interior of the yacht ransacked. He continued his check and noticed that the main entry door of the yacht which was secured with a deadlock was damaged in the area of the lock. A number of items were discovered missing by the owner. The scene was processed by the Forensic Unit. The investigation continues. 
     
    Traffic Accidents:. Twelve traffic accidents occurred on the federation's roadways over the period covered by this report.  Eleven (11) on St. Kitts and one (01) on Nevis. 
     
    Citizen Safety:  Officers of the New Castle Police Station continued their visits to village shops and businesses.  The officers reported that they spoke to the shop owners who were grateful for the regular police visits to their business places. Officers of the Nevis Division conducted beach patrols over the reporting period with officers patrolling the following beaches Jessup's Bay, Paradise Estate Beach, Pinney's Beach, Cotton Ground Beach, Sea Heaven Beach and Herbert's Beach in efforts to counter any illegal activity along the coastline. 
     
    Community Engagement: Officers from a number of Police Stations have visited the various youth summer activities and camps and have interacted with the youth in efforts to encourage positive decision making and behaviours.
