Police Press Release 26/7/16: Report of arrest, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 26, 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrest, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for period 19-25 July. 

     

    ARREST AND BAIL:
    Arrested: Everton  Bergan of Sandy Point was arrested, formally charged and cautioned on a warrant in the first instance for the offence of Building Breaking with intent which was committed in July.  

    Arrested: Esau Slack of Low Street was arrested formally charged and cautioned on a Warrant in the First Instance for the offence of Possession of Cannabis. 

    Arrested: Damien Nisbette of Newton Ground was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Driving Without Insurance and Driving an Unlicenced vehicle.  He was granted bail, in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the District "B" Magistrate Court on 8th August, 2016.  

    Arrested/Bailed: Althus Whyte of Carty Alley, New Town was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Threatening Language, resisting arrested and battery.  He was grated bail in the sum of $3,000.00 ECC for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court September 05. 

    Arrested: Omotoysoi Ladele of Camps was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of driving without a valid and unexpired licence and also for driving without insurance. He was granted bail in the sum of $3,000.00 ECC for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on August 4.
     
    Arrested/Bailed: Lennard Joseph Claxton of New Pond Site-Basseterre was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of wilfully and knowingly making a false statement.  Lennard Claxton of New Ponds Site was granted bail in the sum of $50,000.00 for his appearance at the Magistrate Court on Monday August 8. His condition is to report daily to the Basseterre Police Station between 06:00 am and 18:00 hrs and to surrender all travel documents. 

    Bailed: Ambrose Buchanan of Sandy Point who was arrested for carrying abroad an offensive weapon to wit a machette was granted bail in his own recognizance for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on August 01. 

    Bailed:  Neury Santana of Sebastian Street New Town who was arrested on the July 17 for the offences of driving without a valid driver's license and driving without insurance. was granted bail in the sum of $3,000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday the 8th of august, 2016. 

    Bailed: Aquino Percival of Bath Village was granted bail by Her Honour Yasmine Clarke in the sum of $40,000.00 for his appearance at the November 2016 Criminal Assizes. 

    Bailed:  Leroy Pemberton of Newcastle Village who was formally charged and cautioned on a Warrant in the First Instance for Wounding with intent was granted bail by Her Honour, Miss Yasmine Clarke in the sum of $10,000.00 for his appearance at the Charlestown Magistrate Court at a time and date to be determined by the Court.
     
    COURT CONVICTIONS:-
    In matters at the Basseterre Magistrate Court presided by His Honour Mr Renold Benjamin, Garnette Liddlie of Frigate Bay was convicted and cautioned for driving without due care and attention. 

    In matters at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court presided over by His Lordship Mr. Benjamin,  Sheldon Johnson of Market Street who was charged with possession and supplying of cannabis was heard. He was found guilty and was sentenced to twelve (12) months imprisonment on the charge of Possession of Cannabis.  The charge of supplying was withdrawn.  

    In matters at the District 'B' magistrate court presided over by Her Honour Mrs Karen Hill Hector, Joseph Gichuk of Frigate Bay who was charged with  the offences of driving without due care and attention, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid or unexpired licence and driving without insurance committed on Jan 24, 2016  at New Guinea was convicted and fined $1000.00 for driving under the influence and without due care and attention and $300.00 for driving without insurance and driving without a valid and unexpired licence to be paid by August 25, 2016 or if in default serve thirty (30) days at hard labour. 

    Randy Whyte of Ottley's Village who was charged with the offences of driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance committed on February 12,  at New Guinea was convicted and fined $1000.00 for driving without Due care and attention and $300.00 for driving without insurance to be paid by August 25, or if  in default thirty serve  (30) days at hard labour.  

    Case Dismissal: In matters at the Charlestown Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Miss Yasmine Clarke, in the case D.P.P vs Javid Pemberton of Montpelier Estate the case was  dismissed for want of prosecution. 

    In matters at the Charlestown Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Miss Yasmine Clarke,  Nikita Liburd of Nisbett Settlement was convicted and fined $800.00 to be paid in two (2) months or if in default serve one (1) month imprisonment for Driving without due care and attention.
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Search Warrant Executed:  Police executed two (2) search warrants,  one a premises on Cardin Ave and one on  a premises in Ponds Pasture for controlled drugs, arms, ammunition, stolen goods and document used in the commission of a crime. Nothing was found to satisfy the searches.  

    Search Warrant Executed: Police executed a search warrant on a premises in New Pond Site-Basseterre for Control drugs, firearms, ammunition, false documents and passport. During the search one passport and one birth certificate was taken into Police Custody. 

    Search Warrant Executed: A combined search team executed a search warrant on a in Needsmust Estate for controlled drugs, arms and ammunitions. Nothing was found. 

    Search Warrant Executed: A combined search team executed a search warrant for controlled drugs, arms and ammunition on a premises on Shaw Avenue.  Nothing was found. 

    Search Warrant Executed: A combined search team executed a search warrant for controlled drugs, arms and ammunition on a premises in Lower Cayon. Nothing was found. 

    Marijuana Plants Uprooted:  A combined patrol returned from duty and reported that they uprooted six hundred and sixty-six plants ranging from seedlings to eleven (11) feet in height from an area of land at Lodge Ghaut. 

    House Breaking With Intent:- Police is investigating a report of House Breaking with Intent, the VC reported that on 8th July 2016 at about 2.46pm, they secured an apartment at Half Moon bay and at about 10:30 am on 21st July 2016, when they visited the apartment discovered that it was broken into. Nothing was reported missing. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene.
     
    Robbery: Police is investigating a report of robbery that occurred 10:10am on July 21. Police inquiries revealed that V/C was on the Patsy Allers Play Field at Wigley Ave when he was approached by a male person with a black shirt covering his face and brandishing a machete. The male person demanded that he hand over his money, cellular phone and earrings. As a result, V/C handed over his S7 Edge cellular phone value $750.00 U.S.C and a pair of knob earrings value $30.00 E.C.C. The perpetrator then proceeded to search his bag and a black suit case and took a pair of multi-colored Air Max sneakers value $100.00 U.S.C and a pair of black Converse sneakers value $100.00 USC and ran away with them. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit. 

    Larceny by Servant:- Police is investigating a report of Larceny by Servant at a business in the C.A.P Industrial Park.  The V/C reported to the CID investigator  that on 18th July 2016, one of his stole EC$2000.00 cash from the company. As a result of this information men of the CID went to business where they spoke to the suspected employee. During the interview the employee handed over EC$2000.00 cash to the Police. 

    Cannabis Plants Uprooted: A combined patrol reported that two hundred and fifty-nine (259) cannabis plants ranging in height from seedlings to seven feet (7ft) were uprooted from an empty plot of land in White House Garden, Monkey Hill.  The plants were seized by Police.    
     
    Traffic Accidents: There were four (4)  traffic accidents on the federations roadways during the period of the report. 

    Community Engagement: Knock and Greet. Officers of the New Castle Police Station conducted a Knock and Greet in the Butlers Village. During this exercise,  they greeted the residents in the Butlers Village area. The residents were pleased  with the uniformed police presence in their area  and interacting with them.
     
    Citizen Safety: Police continues to conduct Vehicular Check Points and or Stop and Searches and several searches of abandoned properties.  The check points and searches were done in efforts to ensure Citizen Safety, by removing any found Illegal Firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs, and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes.
