Three claim victory in Kajola's May and June Employee of the Month awards

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOR the months of May and June, two young ladies from the same line, who carry the same last name, who were born in the month of March, were named Kajola Kristada’s Employees of the Month (EoM).

But their supervisor is also enjoying the victory as they are the first she has experienced having taken up that post.

Kerina James and Myrtha James – who claim not to be related to each other – are Kajola Kristada’s May 2016 EoM and the June 2016 EoM respectively. Both work on the Connectors Line and pay specific attention to the EX-11 part.

Kerina who resides in Cayon, has been an employee of Kajola for the past nine years and while this is her first time winning the award, she was somehow not surprised when it took place.

“The week before I found out I won, there was football and my supervisor is a big football fan. When the Employee of the Month Committee was coming around making noise I was saying ‘Cayon win, cayon win’ because that was how the tune was going. And when I looked at her she said ‘Yes Cayon win’.

“Then they came through making noise and they stopped behind me and I said ‘finally, Cayon win’. I did not cry but my heart was beating fast. I was not in shock because we know how to work towards what we want and that is what EX-11 is about. Everything they ask for, we do it. We try keep our targets, finish our work on time etc.”

Then June came along and left and Myrtha – a resident of Saddlers who had won the award once before, in 2008 - was shining once again.

“The morning I was doing my work and my line leader came and said ‘only Myrtha getting a hug’ so I said I won the Employee of the Month. Everyone was saying it was me and I was still saying it wasn’t me. I didn’t cry but my heart was beating fast when I heard that I won. I feel good about myself because I do work hard and push myself every day.”

Both were congratulated by their Supervisor Kimara Boyd who described them as dedicated, hard-working, always willing to go above and beyond and in the case of Myrtha, “she is, always, always, always early”.

Kerina expressed thanks to God for his guidance, her cousin Maxine Julius-Bass in St. Croix for always encouraging her, also to her children and her supervisor who saw it fit to enter her name as a candidate for the EoM.

Myrtha also expressed thanks to her supervisor who she said is the best line leader she ever had.

Boyd explained to SKNVibes the reasons for her eagerness to share in the achievements Kerina and Myrtha.

“Before I became a supervisor, I always wanted to win the Employee of the Month…but I never won it. Now that I am a supervisor, I get the opportunity to be a winner through my workers. I am really proud of them and I expect everybody else to push hard and win.

Boyd said she is confident that another Connectors Line worker would win the July 2016 EoM award. But only time will tell.

These young ladies were so overjoyed about their accomplishment that they recently held a mini party to celebrate.

Congratulations to Kerina, Myrtha and of course to Boyd on your achievement.
