August 10th, 2016 -- Persons wishing to export fish and fishery products from the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis should acquire export permits from the Department of Marine Resources at least 3 business days prior to the date of departure. The fish and fishery products to be exported should be taken to the Department of Marine Resources for inspection when obtaining export permits.
These permits issued help to ensure consumer health safety, the sustenance of the livelihoods of fisherfolk and the deterrence of Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The products should be inspected as whole products except for the removal of scales and stomach contents.
No fish and fishery product can be exported to the European Union or any of its Overseas Territories from the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Additionally, a receipt for the fish and fishery products from the fisher who sold these products should be provided by the person exporting the fish.
The receipt should state:
1) Fisher's First Name
2) Fisher's Last Name
3) The species of fish and fishery products
4) The value of species of fish and fishery products in Eastern Caribbean dollars
The export permit fee is EC$35.00 per application.
