Police Press Release 13/8/2016: Report of arrest, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 10, 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrest, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. 

     

    ARREST AND BAIL:
    Bailed: Terrence Casey who was charged with the offence of Larceny committed on the July 14, 2016 was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 and ordered to appear in court on August 26, 2016.
     
    Bailed: : Chad A Williams who was charged with several indictable accounts, including Attempted Murder and Shooting With Intent was granted in the  sum of $75,000.00 with the following conditions.  That the accused to report to the Basseterre Police Station once per week between Monday- Friday between the hours of 6a.m- 6p.m.  
     
    COURT CONVICTIONS:
    In matters at District "B" Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Hector the following sentences were handed down: 
    - Ron Hodge of Mansion who was charged for the following offences Possession of Cannabis was fined $ 800.00 to be paid by August 30, 2016 or if  in default serve  30  days Hard Labour.  He was also found guilty for driving without license and was fined $ 300.00 to be paid by September 15, 2016 or in found in default serve 30 days Hard Labour. He was also found guilty of driving and unregistered Vehicle and was fined $ 300.00 to be paid by September 15, 2016 or if in default serve 30 days Hard Labour.  He was also found guilty for driving without due care and attention and was fined $800.00 to be paid by September 15, 2016 or if in default serve 30 days Hard Labour. 
     
    -Julian Matthew and Tadran Benjamin both of St Pauls who were charged for Disorderly Conduct by Fighting were found guilty and Julian Matthew was fined $300.00 to be paid by August 31, 2016 or if default serve 30 days Hard Labour.  Tadran Benjamin was reprimanded and discharged. 
     
    - The following persons had their cases dismissed for want of prosecution Terrence Johnson who was charged for Causing Grievous Bodily Harm and Chesley Harris who was charged for Battery.
     
    In matters at the Charlestown Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honor, Miss Yasmine Clarke the following convictions were recorded- 

    - Kenny Mills of Nisbett Settlement was convicted and sentenced to three (3) months imprisonment for the offence of Being found a dwelling house at night. 

    -  Dixie Taylor of Brick Kiln was convicted and sentenced to twelve (12) months imprisonment for the offence of Possession of Crack -Cocaine. 
     
    - Kevin Chapman of Bath Village was convicted and fined $500.00 XCD to be paid in one (1) month or if in default serve seven (7) days imprisonment for the offence of Permitting someone to drive his vehicle without insurance and was convicted and cautioned for the offence of permitting someone to drive an unlicensed vehicle. 
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Building Breaking and Larceny:  Police is investigating a report of Building Breaking and Larceny that occurred at the Kadz Bar on Cayon Street, Basseterre.  Investigations revealed that the owner secured that bar on August 8 at about the 9.30pm and left. On his return at about 8.05am  on August 9,  he discovered a southern back door open and one 43" LG Smart TV value $2500.00 missing. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit. Further inquiries to be conducted. 
     
    House Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a report of House Breaking and Larceny that occurred the Half Moon Courtyard area.  Investigations revealed that a caretaker of a home reported that the house was last secured about 3.30pm on August 01. At about  6.10pm on August 9, it was discovered broken into. Some unknown person entered the home and stole a one 32' inch flat screen television.. The scene was processed by the crime scene unit.  The investigation continues. 
     
    Building Breaking:  Police is investigating a report of Building Breaking of  a concrete and wooden structure at Maynard's Park owned and operated by the Green Valley Committee.  Initial investigations reveal that an intruder(s) broke in to the building and stole a quantity of alcoholic and non-alcoholic  beverages and other items.  The structure was secured on August 3, and was revisited on August 9  at about 5.20pm when it was discovered that the drinks were missing other items were missing.  Inquires are ongoing.  
     
    Citizen Safety: Police continues to conduct Vehicular Check Points and or Stop and Searches and several searches of abandoned properties.  The check points and searches were done in efforts to ensure Citizen Safety, by removing any found Illegal Firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs, and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes.
