(Road Town, Tortola) (August 18, 2016) - Two students from the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies (VISTS) gained comprehensive knowledge of the auto industry during their recently completed four-week apprenticeship journey with Tortola Auto Group (TAG), Slaney Point.

Tyler Jackson and Omar Walker, both age 17, worked along with TAG’s staff, undertaking duties related to car sales, servicing and maintenance, auto body restoration and the Car Quest Auto Parts Store.

“We were happy to host Tyler and Omar who are full of energy and enthusiastic about their learning experience at TAG,” said Managing Director, Patricia Romney.

Romney continued, “We deliberately set about to acquire modern tools and technology in our venture. This was not just to provide the best service to our clients, but to also provide a complete training environment for youth pursuing auto studies at various levels. To be able to achieve this within our first year of operation demonstrates that TAG is serious about its commitment to the development of the Territory.”

Tyler said he enjoyed the experience at TAG, but especially working alongside the certified mechanics.

“The mechanics were very helpful and I was able to identify the various components under the hood. That really excited me. TAG is so peaceful and professional as everyone knows what they are doing,” Tyler pointed out.

For Omar, this was his first job training experience and his first dedicated stint at an auto operation.

“I got an opportunity to really see and appreciate some of the things that I have been learning in the classroom. I got to put them into practice; learning how to interact with customers, parts inventory, and the various vehicle components. It was lovely,” Omar related.

TAG, the official Hyundai Dealer and home of Car Quest Auto Parts, is focused on community involvement at every level and is preparing to launch a massive cashback promotion from September 1-10 where customers will receive as much as $3,000 with the purchase of select models.

The promotion ends on September 10 with a roadshow at the Courtesy Car Rental Parking Lot, opposite Scotiabank, Road Town.
