BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Government of National Unity has reaffirmed its commitment to providing all resources necessary for students to be successful at local and regional examination Minister of Education the Hon. Shawn Richards has disclosed.

He gave that assurance last evening (Aug. 23) in Dieppe Bay at the Team Unity Government’s town hall meeting.

With the 2016/2017 school year set to begin in a couple of weeks, the Minister, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, explained that the Government has a number of ongoing projects that would aid students and the institutions that they attend.

He said these projects focus on the physical structure of the institutions.

“The truth is that we inherited from the past administration a number of physical plants and crumbling infrastructure.”

One such institution Richards pointed to, was that of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, where he said work is being done to repair the roof. He said this is a follow up to work previously done there.

“You go by the library…the roof there leaking. You go by the administrative block, up there leaking. The first block that we did…we had to it is as a matter of emergency because it was affecting the students’ ability, especially those students doing science classes, to be able to continue classes in those particular classrooms.”

He reminded the residents that the Government gave its commitment to looking after all the people and that is their current undertaking.

He added that as soon as his administration took office, corrective work had to be carried out at the Newton Ground Primary School because it too had a leaky roof.
