BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation will once again stage its popular Men in Heelz Competition as one of the marquee events for the entity’s month of activities.

The popular non-governmental organization has planned several activities in recognition of October as Breast Cancer Month and also to raise awareness for the cause.

Speaking with SKNVibes, Chief Executive Officer Pamela Armstrong explained that the activities started last month when they held a fundraising Gospel Concert.

She noted that everything is not about October because it is generally associated with being Breast Cancer Month but rather, they had been having a number of fundraising activities throughout the year.

“We started in September with a major concert. We then opened the month with a Church Service on the first Sunday of this month and we did field talks within the communities.”

The Breast Cancer Foundation has been financially assisting persons with the ailment to seek treatment both locally and overseas with no need for repayment.

On the calendar for the remainder of October, Armstrong said that on the 20th they would be having an Ask the Doctor programme on ZIZ Television Station with a special guest, who is expected to touch the lives of many in the Federation with their story.

“For me, it is going to be one of the most interesting one yet. I think it is going to be impacting a lot of lives because of the people who are going to be on there, and it is going to be the talk of SKN.”

On Saturday, October 22, the foundation wil be hosting its marquee event – A Run for the Cause.

Following those two events, attention would shift to the Marriott Hotel, where there will be an Exercise Warm-up. That event will see persons undertaking various exercises.

The month of events will culminate with the popular  Men in Heelz Competition on Bank Street, Basseterre.

Introduced last year, the event captivated those who attended and participated, Armstrong disclosed, and as a result, they have made it an annual event for the foundation.
