Police Press Release 01-11-2016: Report of arrests, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, November, 01 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period 26-31 October.

     

    ARREST AND BAIL:
    Arrested: Vernon Elliott of St. Johnston Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned in the first instance for possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.  
     
    Arrested: Enslie Lewis of Prickley Pear Alley was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for possession of mask.

    Arrested: Jermaine Carey of Lower Stone Castle, Tabernacle was arrested, formally charged for driving and for the other offences (1) Failing to immediately stop at an accident scene (2) did drive the said vehicle without insurance (3) did drive the said vehicle without having obtained the relevant license prescribed in respect of the said vehicle.
     
    Arrested: Marcus Huggins of Roxborough Street, Newtown was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Larceny.  Bailed: Marcus Huggins was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Thursday 03rd November 2016.

    Arrested: Avenash Rampasuard of Bath Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned in the First Instance for the offence of simple wounding. The offence occurred on the 23rd October 2016 at Bath Village.  Bailed: Avinash Ramparsaud was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the Charlestown Magistrate Court on November 8th 2016.

    Arrested: Antonio Pascal of Lower Shaw Avenue was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Threatening Language Bailed: Antonio Pascal was granted bail in the sum of Two thousand dollars ($2000.00) ECC for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court District "A" on Thursday 3rd November 2016.

    COURT CONVICTIONS:
    In matters at the St. Christopher Circuit Court Criminal presided over by His Lordship Justice Trevor Ward, QC in the case D.P.P vs Alex Jules who was indicted for Rape concluded today Wednesday 26th October, 2016. The Jury deliberated for three hours and returned and rendered a verdict of NOT GUILTY. (10-2) 

    In other matters, Raymond Pemberton who pleaded guilty to Wounding With Intent was sentenced to serve 7 years imprisonment. 
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Search Warrant Executed: Police executed number of search warrants over the period of this report. The Warrants were executed in the following areas: Church Ground, Bath Village, Cole Hill, Rawlins Village, Newtown Ground, Buckley’s, Mansion Village and Shadwell.
     
    Traffic Accident: There were nineteen (19) accidents on the federation’s roadways during the period of this report.  
     
    Citizen Safety:  Police continue to conduct vehicle check points and stop and searches in our communities.  These activities are ongoing efforts to remove illegal firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs, and  instruments that can be used to commit crimes from our communities.  
     
    Community Engagement:  Police continues to conduct school visits at all schools throughout the federation.  Police continues to conduct community patrols in a number of communities in each Policing District.
