BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NEWS coming out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines states that a trough system, which affected that country yesterday (Nov. 9), has left one child dead and several others nursing injuries.
According to reports, Phillip Compton who lived on the Grenadines went missing and was reported to have died as a result of flooding in the area, which was caused by torrential rainfall from the trough system.
A colleague on the island confirmed the death to SKNVibes and indicated that the island sustained over five inches of rainfall which resulted in widespread flooding and landslides.
Photos seen by SKNVibes showed the extent of the flooding with inundated homes and submerged vehicles.
The rainfall and landslides left many roads in the hillside impassable and many drivers were seen trying their best to navigate through difficult patches of roadways.
According to our colleague, the young boy died in the northern area of Bequia while someone is said to be missing on the mainland.
The rainfall lasted for most of yesterday and sometime this morning.
However, apart from the loss of life and a missing person, the island is recovering from minor damages that the trough system caused.
