Compost fertilizer for sustainable agriculture in St Kitts Nevis

    November 22nd, 2016 -- The vegetable, fruit and upland crop quality and improvement project V.F.U.C.I.P is an agro based joint technological project between government of St Kitts and Nevis through the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources & Cooperatives and Government of Republic of China (Taiwan) through its ICDF. 

     

    The project facility which is located at the NeedMust opposite Lime (Flow) playground near the Agro processing unit offers free laboratory and technical and support services to farmers in St. Kitts and Nevis. The Project’s Rapid Bioassay of Pesticide Residue (RBPR) Laboratory is the first and only lab in OECES and in Caribbean region that offers rapid pesticides residue test for vegetable, fruits and crops.

    The project also has a world class Soil Fertility Analysis (SFA) lab where test and analysis of soil properties, chemicals/nutrients and organic matters are conducted and recommendations for treatment and restoration of the soil and farm land are given to farmers.

    The main goal of the project is to liaise with the ministry of Agriculture to boost and improve quantity, quality and safety of Agricultural production in St. Kitts and Nevis. And in so doing the project has recognized the important of compost fertilizer and sustainable agriculture and intends to bring their awareness and benefits to the farming community and general public.

    Consequently the Management and Staff of the Project is inviting the general public and all the farmers in the St Kitts and Nevis to special workshop on  “Compost Fertilizer For Sustainable Agriculture” at the NeedMust Project Office / Laboratory Opposite Lime Play Field near Agro processing Unit.
     
    Presenters include Local and International Experts. The date for this workshop is Wednesday, November 23rd 2016. Time 9:30am

    We invite all to come and know WHY and HOW to make Compost fertilizer, and to produce a bountiful, quality and safe vegetables, fruits and crops. It is a free workshop for all the farmers and the members of the public. Come one come all!
