With all the artistes, excluding the two reigning kings, having to compete in the first leg of the competition or the elimination round, which wrapped up on Friday evening (Nov. 25), the National Carnival Committee has released the names of those progressing to the Semi-finals.

Coming off the eliminations in the Groovy segment, Geezy Sparta led from crowd favourite Rucas, who ‘Sway’ those in attendance on the opening night.

Chairman of the Soca Committee O’Grenville Browne disclosed that like Sparta and Rucas, Shanna, X-man, Katy, Vibes, Dejour, Ezee, DJ Woodish, Jazbo and  Tobap, Blade, Pinocchio, Wayne P, LAX, See Man, Fantastic Thunder, Lady Diva, K Warner, Foxy and Lil Miss have all made it through to the next round of the competition.

According Browne, that is the order in which they finished, and he disclosed the names of the artistes who would be moving on in the Power segment.

All the artistes came out and did their best. I am sure that they thought that they could do better, but they did pretty well in my view - and what I liked about them is that they all supported each other while the other was on stage performing.

He continued: “I would like to congratulate them for their camaraderie that they would have shown over two nights in supporting the other artistes while they were performing. I expect bigger and greater things for the Semi-finals, and even better things for the finals. They are going to put on a very good show for the Semi-finals and Finals.”

The Semi-finals is slated for December 9, while the Finals will be held on December 24, at which point the two kings will seek to defend their titles.

Browne is calling on the public to show their support.
